The Ghost of Alvi Singer…
One night not so long ago I found myself on Bleecker street, in the NYC village. I was wandering around waiting for my friends to get off work.
I ducked in to Kenny’s Cataways for a cocktail and on stage was this sleek, sexy guitar player tuning up.
He had olive skin, some well crafted ink entagled on both of his upper arms and these sweet lips, that the spotlight was shining right on.
A dwarf got up on stage to introduce this enchanted lad which made sense because he looked like he might come from the land of OZ.
As he began to sing he was shy yet commanded the stage. His voice could be compared to a whispering wind that kind of tickles your ear.
His lyrics were quirky, dynamic and unique. Some songs were pure love odes.
A few others were psychedelic and paranoid and took you into the circus part of his mind.
When he was done I felt like I had been through an experience, maybe even a therapy session as well as a love making session.
Apparently I was not the only one, women had been piling into the bar right after his first song.
By the end, the place was packed and they all rushed the back room to get to him after he was done.
I tried my best to push through all those sweaty female hormones but before I knew it I heard someone scream he ran out the back.
He was said to have yelled “I’ll become invisible”
At home after the evening was over I Googled this Alvi Singer. I had to learn EVERYTHING about him.
The first thing that came up was a breaking story from 1010 wins.
It said popular underground performance artist Alvi Singer has had enough of America.
It went on to quote a statement from his publicict she said “Alvi can no longer share his art with the world especially women of the USA”. He wanted to say just this one thing
“I am not a piece of meat, I want real love and real relationships, until then I stay a ghost”.
He will be in seclusion for the imminent future.
I was so sad. I did manage to get one picture that night. Pictures of Alvi are rare.
It’s funny because in this picture he looks, just like a ghost.
I will be posting some of Alvi’s music that I found in a discount cd store on Christopher street.
Please enjoy him. Maybe one day he will come out of hiding.
